The principal common law duties of employers are to:
Provide reasonable remuneration. This includes terms as to the manner of payment; holiday and sick pay; and compliance with the national minimum wage introduced by the UK Government in 1999.Comply with the law relating to working hours. Average weekly working hours must be limited to 48.

Provide a detailed payslip.

Provide appropriate training.

Ensure mutual cooperation and respect.

If the employer wants to end the employment, he must give reasonable notice of termination.

2 员工的职责Duties of Employees
The principal common law duties of employees are those of agents:
Obey lawful and reasonable instructions: This is the fundamental duty of faithful service to an employer.

Do one's job with reasonable competence, care and skill: What is expected depends on any qualifications, skills and experience possessed by each employee. As a minimum, an employer may reasonably expect:
honesty;
commitment; and
common sense.

Account for all money and property received in the course of employment.

Not to delegate duties without the express or implied consent of the employer.
雇主没有明确同意或默许的事不能做。
Breach of these duties may justify the employer's formally warning the employee to improve his performance (good practice may require the employer to provide the employee with support and training to help him to do so) or, in serious situations, dismissing the employee.
